Compton Bay and Downs has plenty of space to explore, search for fossils, spot local wildlife, surf, cycle and ride your horse. Steep steps lead down to the beach at Compton where the whole family can enjoy safe swimming, rock-pooling, sand castles and picnics. Coastal erosion is evident at Brook. It can become very busy during the summer months but this two mile stretch of coastline never appears crowded.

There are car parks that are free to National Trust members at both Brook and Compton. Other free but limited parking can be found on the side of Military Road.

Many pleasant walks and trials suitable for everyone can be found in the area.
